No More Package X

Federal Package X, a compilation of federal forms very familiar to many tax preparers, has been discontinued. The IRS anticipates saving $1.8 million in printing and mailing costs. Where does this leave you as a tax practitioner?

Many people use the IRS website, www.irs.gov, to search for the most up-to-date versions of forms and instructions. In addition, Publication 1796, the CD version of the Package X, is available for purchase. An order form is included in your copy of Publication 1045, the Tax Professionals Guide to Federal Tax Products, which the IRS mailed to you earlier this summer.
