| VP Spotlight
Alan Keling is the vice president of customer service at Drake
Software. He oversees more than 200 dedicated support personnel and
has been with Drake for six years.
Alan is a 1984 graduate of the Control Data Institute in Atlanta,
Georgia, where he earned a degree in computer engineering. After spending
17 years in customer service with Digital Equipment Corporation, he made
the move to Drake Software.
Alan and his wife of 17 years, Julie, have two daughters: Sarah
Anne, 16, and Alison Brooke, 9.
Alan enjoys spending his free time in mountain streams fishing
for rainbow or brook trout, though he always seems to catch a rhododendron
bush instead. He finds this sport both relaxing and challenging. Alan also
enjoys playing basketball with his daughters.
When asked about his experiences at Drake Software, Alan states, “I
love helping our clients with the software during tax season. We have the
best customers of anywhere I’ve ever worked. There’s something
new each day.” He adds, “I also really enjoy helping our support
staff develop and achieve success.”
Alan finds his inspiration from a comment made by basketball
coach John Wooden, “The will to win is nothing without the will to
prepare to win.”
Those who work closest with Alan find him a joy to be around.
He is known for his great sense of humor and easy-going attitude. According
to Allie Justice, a customer service division manager, “Alan is a
man of vision. He listens to the needs of our customers and finds a way
for us to deliver.” She adds, “He is an exemplary leader, a
listener, and a mentor. He gives us a sense of accomplishment and a feeling
of importance in the job we do.”
